Context

Garden App is a planning and care platform for home growers. Primary users are homeowners and hobby growers who want better outcomes without becoming full-time experts. Secondary users include families and shared households where plant care is distributed and often inconsistent.

Problem

Home gardening is high-effort and low-feedback for most people. Planning, local climate context, and day-to-day care are disconnected, so critical decisions get made at the wrong time. Users need a calm, decision-ready layer that turns seasonal complexity into clear weekly actions.

Your Role

  • Led product strategy and UX design
  • Designed zone intelligence, planning, and care operations layers
  • Built task engine and reminder logic
  • Owned learning and feedback loop (outcomes, recommendations)

Approach

I framed it as a planning and execution system, not a catalog or inspiration product. Strategy: translate region and zone data into practical timing windows; convert broad advice into role- and date-specific tasks; reduce missed care with predictable reminder cadences; surface progress to build confidence. Zone, planning, care, and learning layers connect so the system refines over time.

Outcome

In progress. Core product architecture and interaction model are defined; current phase is validating timing logic and reminder thresholds with pilot users. Next: private beta for spring/summer planning cohorts, shared household flows, outcome dashboards for yield and adherence.
